“Breathtaking views come after breathless climbs towards higher peaks”

The call of the mountains is a primal one. It whispers in the wind, thrums in the earth, and dances in the clouds, beckoning us to push our limits, comfort zone and embrace the raw majesty of the earth’s highest reaches. For those who answer this call, mountaineering, climbing, hiking, and trekking become more than just hobbies; they become a way of life, a pursuit of the soul.

Kalsubai- highest peaks of this Western Ghat range

Kalsubai is one of the highest peaks of this Western Ghat range, so called the Mount Everest of Maharashtra with 5400 feet of height. Kalsubai Peak is a very popular trek in the Sahyadri region and one shall definitely add this into their list. It is approximately 6.6 Kilometers long. It takes almost 4 hours to ascend, and 3 hours descend, well the hours may vary upon the breaks and halts one takes. Spending a night in a small tent amidst the fucking chilling cold can be a truly exhilarating experience. It’s a chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, immerse yourself in nature, and test your limits.

The Thrill of the Climb

Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer summiting Everest or a first-time hiker tackling a local trail, the thrill of the climb is undeniable. Each step is a victory, a testament to your strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. The feeling of conquering a challenging ascent, of reaching that breathtaking peak and gazing out at a world transformed, is a feeling that words can barely capture. It’s a feeling of accomplishment, of oneness with nature, and of touching the very edge of the sky.

More Than Just a Physical Challenge

But mountaineering is not just about the physical challenge. It’s a journey of self-discovery, a test of your mental fortitude and emotional strength. It’s about facing your fears, pushing past your comfort zone, and learning to rely on yourself and your team in the face of adversity. It’s about the quiet moments of contemplation amidst the grandeur of nature, the unexpected connections forged with fellow adventurers, and the deep sense of peace that comes from being present in the moment, surrounded by the raw beauty of the mountains and definitely the strengths as strange fellows and trek leaders walking along with you.

A Tapestry of Experiences

The world of mountaineering is a tapestry of diverse experiences, from the adrenaline-pumping rush of technical climbing to the serene solitude of a solo trek. Whether you’re scaling the icy peaks of the Himalayas, navigating the rugged terrain or exploring the hidden trails of your local forest, each adventure offers a unique perspective, a new challenge, and a chance to reconnect with the wildness within.

Embrace the Journey

So, if you hear the call of the mountains, don’t hesitate. Answer it with open arms and a fearless heart. Embrace the journey, the challenges, and the breathtaking rewards that await you on the peak. Remember, it’s not just about reaching the summit; it’s about the transformative experience that unfolds along the way.

For those who are ready to embark on their own peak pursuits, here are a few tips:
Start small:

If you’re new to mountaineering, begin with shorter sprints, easier hikes and gradually build your skills and endurance to chase the higher altitudes.

Find a mentor:

Connect with experienced climbers or mountaineers who can guide you and share their knowledge.

Invest in proper gear:

Having the right equipment is essential for safety and comfort. Do not simply follow the list of others and make one, have your own kit ready to lead.

Respect the mountains:

Always be aware of the risks and challenges involved, and never underestimate the power of nature.

Leave no trace:

Be a responsible steward of the environment and pack out all your trash.

Most importantly, remember to enjoy the journey. Savor the fresh mountain air, the breathtaking views, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with every step you take. The mountains are waiting for you, and the rewards are worth every ounce of effort.

Trail of trekkers moving on rocky hill with the help of Torch lights.

We were armed with nothing but torches on our heads and in our hands, our Manchala group embarked on a night mountaineering expedition that promised not just physical challenge but a rendezvous with the enchanting beauty hidden in the shadows. With each upward ascent, the night unveiled its secrets in the form of the rustle of unseen creatures and the occasional call of night birds, creating an immersive symphony of the wilderness, hovering of mosquitoes, chilling winds, bugs etc.
